Initially it was planned that this car would employ a supercharged version of the 5000 cubic centimetre Lexus IS F V-8 engine, which had been put to show at the 2103 L.A. Auto Show. Surprisingly, Lotus had revealed plans for a newer engine that would be developed in-house. The outcome is a 4800 cubic centimetre V-8 engine that features direct injection system. The engine had four valves per cylinder, along with a flat-plane crank and usage of dry-sump lubrication. There was unconfirmed news about variable valve timing and minimum redline of 9000 rpm being introduced into the vehicle. The car has been made compact, thus measuring merely 620 mm (24.4 in.) in length, while it weighs around 140 pounds less than ISF that is supercharged. The company is yet to release final horsepower figures; however it is targeted to be minimum 570 bhp.
