Dodge charger is a great muscle car which was launched by Dodge division of Chrysler in 1964 at a car show. It is incredible to note that there have been 7 generations of Charger and each one with new and enhanced features. However the first generation Dodge Charger was a roadster-style show car based on the Dodge Polara. For the first generation, a two-door fastback version Coronet built on Chrysler B platform was released.
The second generation of the Charger was redesigned to boost up the sales which it did but it failed in the stock car racing such as NASCAR. The sixth generation came with the biggest changes because the company had decided to present the Charger in 2006 in a new form. The 7th and the present generation was started in 2011 and Charger was designed using a re-engineered version of the Chrysler LX platform. At present, the Charger is released in a 100th anniversary to celebrate it.
