This Pontiac Sunbird has quite a good history of 18 years with different body styles made available in the market like the notchback coupe, convertible body styles, station wagon, hatchback and sedan. Few of the interesting features noticed in the advanced variants of this model are the semi-concealed headlamps, turbo GT badges replacing the traditional sunbird badges for the Turbo variants sunbird GT models. However, for the turbo delete cars, the Sunbird badge is replaced with the Sunbird GT badge thus making it easy for the individuals to understand the difference between different variants.

The engines in almost all of the variants are of the gasoline type operating with the 3 speed automatic or the 5 speed manual transmission. The layout in most of the models is explained as the transverse front engine with the front wheel drive technology. With the revisions made to the engine from time to time the fuel economy is attained with the increased power range.
