Yamaha has been an ardent follower of its pre established rules of motorcycle manufacturing. Since the very beginning Yamaha wanted to bring racing motorcycles to the roads so that every individual could drive and enjoy the fun and adventures of fast driving. This was achieved by introducing commercial automobiles, which consisted of parts from their racing automobiles which performed well on tracks. The best example of this approach was the introduction of Yamaha TDM. Yamaha TDM was the jump taken by Yamaha into the completely new field of the New Sports class of automobiles. This 849 cc novelty hit the motorcycle market for the first time in the year 1991. Besides the super fast and strong engine, a derivative of the racing wheel produced by Yamaha which went on to win the Paris Dakar race event, and a supremely radical and modern upright riding position, the TDM had a lot to offer in terms of performance.
