Fiat Tipo is a small family car launched by Fiat in 1988 and it was made available only as a five-door hatchback. An interesting fact about this car is that it was made completely out of galvanized body panels to avoid it from getting rusty. It also won the European Car of the Year award and 1989 Semperit Irish Car of the Year in Ireland in 1989. Tipo gained so much popularity in Brazil that it outsold the best-selling Brazilian car for 20 years, Volkswagen Gol. Tipo underwent the first facelifting phase in 1993 when a three door version was introduced with minor exterior changes and improved specifications. Driver - ?s airbag and side impact bars were also added in Fiat Tipo. Finally the production of Tipo had to be ceased with the arrival of three-door Fiat Bravo.
