The Kawasaki KX is powered by a liquid cooled 2-stroke single KIPS engine with single cylinder. The bike is made up of high tensile steel perimeter design with sub frame member. The bike has a six-speed transmission with chain drive and a thick base clutch. It has a Keihin PWK38 fuel system with digital CDI ignition. It has a fuel capacity of 1.5 gallon. With the hydraulic disc front brake and the rear disc brakes, the brake system of the bike is quite efficient and capable.
