The auto industry has taken the electric car into its heart and has been plotting several future proof plans, but the progress has not been so satisfactory so far. The electric car has not been viable due to the non-availability of astute battery technology and with the Leaf, Nissan has tried to change that. It introduced the Nissan Leaf which is powered by a 107bhp electric motor. Nissan claims a 124miles per charge which is dependent on model, environment temperature and individual use and has been realistic about it. According to Nissan efficiency of the batteries will reduce 20% over 5 years. When introduced the price of the Leaf was £30,000 at the retail. However a discount of £5000 from the government helped buyers to afford it. When production was shifted to UK from Japan in the earlier part of 2013 it significantly helped to reduce the cost of the car.
