It is designed to appeal to the demographic of sporty owners who are other than the lovers of Toyota Camry Sedan. The Solar mixes the spacious practicality with the sporty style and looks and is supposed to project a sportier image than the Camry Sedan. All the Camry Solara models sport the insignia of Solara and the name Camry is not used on the exterior. To compete with other coupes Toyota launched Camry Solar in 1998.
