Chevrolet Sprint was a marketing name of Suzuki Cultus, a supermini car produced by Suzuki during 1983 to 2003. It allowed GM after forging an alliance to market Cultus as an attractive import globally. It was sold under more than half a dozen names which included Chevrolet Sprint, Geo Metro, Holden Barina and the car was known as the GM’s S-car. GM continued to market the Chevrolet Sprint along with Chevette until 1987 but for the model year 1988 a hatchback was christened as Chevrolet Sprint Metro. Both Sprint Metro and Sprint differed in their engines though they were uniform in their carb system that was computer controlled. The carbureted 1.0 L 3-cylinder engine from 1985 to 1988 utilized the hemispherical head design and later due to the fuel injection it was decided to redesign the cylinder head. This was required to be done for additional cooling and fuel economy.
