Fiat 126 was first manufactured in 1972 at the Turin Auto Show and it replaced Fiat 500. The mechanical underpinnings and layouts in the Fiat 126 were pretty much the same but the new bodyshell was the new feature. Engine capacity had also been increased to 652 by the end of 1977 and cylinder bore was also enhanced to 77 cm. Developments were made in this model until an engine of size 704 cc with 26Â PS (19Â kW) of motive power was introduced. Its successor is Fiat Cinquecento in 1993. The production of this model was continued in Poland and it was called Polski Fiat 126p.
