volkswagen scirocco

Volkswagen Scirocco was manufactured by Volkswagen between 1974 and 1992 and 2008 to present and is classified as a sports compact car. The car was given a front layout engine and four wheel drive. Predecessor of the model was the Volkswagen Karmann Ghia and two generations of the Scirocco have been manufactured and the third was commenced in August 2008.  The name of the vehicle has been derived from the Mediterranean desert wind “Sicocco”. Assembly of the car was carried out at the Osanbruck, Germany plant and the design of the car was developed by Girogetto Giugiaro. The car was offered in a 3-door coupe and was based on the Volkswagen Group A1 platform.  Powertrain configuration of the model included 1.1 I4 L to 1.7 L I4 petrol and was offered in 4 and 5-speed manual and 3-speed automatic transmissions. Not much change was seen in the car before it was replaced with the Type 2 version in Europe in 1982.
