The first lancer is released into the market in the year 1973. The model is designed to have four body styles two door sedan, four door sedan, two door hardtop coupe and the long running five door station wagon which are later replaced by the front wheel drive lancer new releases. There are considerable variants of engines as well like the 1.2, 1.4 and 1.6 litre to support the combination of various body styles and engine power.
The present lancer model is powered by 4B11 2.0 litre capacity DOHC engine giving the horsepower of 157hp at 117 kW. The transmission mode selected for this model is the 6 speed semi automatic fixed gear system for the sports models. CVT, INVECS-III is the technology employed for the transmission in new releases. The 4 speed automatic with INVECS-II is also one of the transmission variants along with the regular 5 speed manual. All these would give comfortable power shift for the car while on the road.
