The Volkswagen Routan is the rebadged variant from the Chrysler RT platform and is a minivan with seven seat capacity. The car received suspension tuning, style revision and content feature from the Dodge Grand Caravan and Chrysler Town & Country fifth generation vehicles. Routan made its entry at the 2008 Chicago Auto Show and was manufactured at the Windsor Assembly along with Dodge and Chrysler minivans. Sale in the US was started in September 2008. Dodge Caravan, Chrysler Town & Country, C/V and Chrysler Grand Voyager, export only, were the minivan variants of Routan. 12 million vehicles were sold by 2009 and together they reached the 13th spot on the world selling ranks. Routan had the same design, features and styling of Chrysler and Dodge, the mechanical twins. Due to the increased cost of inventory production of the Routan was stopped in 2012 and VW announced that the 2013 model would be only meant for fleets and rental companies.
