FJR1300 was debuted in 2001 in Europe before it made it to the North America region ion 2002. But here it was only sold as a non-ABD version. Representing the Sports Touring Category the bike earned many distinctions in 2003. But the 2004 models included a new ABS version and a non-ABS version with anodized brake calipers. Other updates included 320mm disc brakes, upgraded suspension and fairing package for small accessories. The next model for 2005 was physically unchanged offering both a non-ABS and an ABS model. Generation 2 was introduced in 2006 and the design updates included revised final drive ratio, trailing arm changes, curved radiator with more space, upgraded alternator, instrumentation changes and airflow changes to reduce heating issues. Adjustable vents were added to the FJR1300 permitting the rider to control air either closer or away from the body. Semi-automatic transmission was introduced with the FJR1300AE in U.S.A. and Canada.
