The SS or Super Sport was a performance package offered with Chevrolet cars for limited number of vehicles. The SS models are usually found with the “SS” markings clearly etched on the car body. Impala was first offered with this honor in 1961 and other models that followed Impala included Chevelle, Camaro, Monte Carlo, Nova and El Camino. The SS models of the present are being assembled by the performance division of General Motors. The Australian subsidiary of GM Holden too offers the SS package to some of its cars and it includes the Commodore SS, a Sedan and Ute SS being a 2-door couple utility. Starting 1994, this package has been seen in a variety of GM automobiles that included four-dppr sedans, pickup trucks, and front-wheel drive units. In the past and the present the SS package has been always included with heavy duty suspension, high-perform tires, enhanced power and a variety of appearance and performance upgrades.
