Chevrolet Silverado | show original size
Chevrolet Silverado is a series of full-size pickups produced by GM and mechanically identifiable with the GMC Sierra. It was introduced as a successor to the long serving Chevrolet C/K line Suburbans and pickups. Silverado is a name of the trim level used previously with the Chevrolet C/K pickup trucks through 1975 to 1999. A GMC-badged variant full-size truck of Chevrolet is being continued by General Motors in the name of GMC Sierra. It was first used to name the variants of GMT400 platform pickups in 1988. The term Silverado came into being when it was designated to detail the trim of Chevrolet C/K pickup trucks and Suburbans through 1975 to 1999, though GM’s first pickup truck made its appearance way back in 1930. Chevrolet still used the CK & CC as its model codes, but GMC varied the Sierra with High Sierra 1999 and Sierra. In the entire history the GMC Sierra trucks and the Chevrolet Silverado have remained the same essentially.
