The Chevrolet Cobalt was introduced as a 2005 model in 2004 by Chevrolet as a compact car initially. The car replaced both the Prizm and the cavalier in the compact car segment of the brand and it was available both in sedan and coupe class. Cobalt was based on a GM Delta platform, which it shared with Astra’s Opel, Opel Zafira and Chevrolet HHR. There was also a super sport variant available as a high performance vehicle from the marque. During its entire reign the car was also sold as Pontiac G5 in Canada and during 2005-2006 as Pontiac G4 in Mexico. In Canada it was also known as the Pontiac G5 Pursuit and Pontiac Pursuit and during 2007-2009 the car was sold as G5 in the United States. In all markets Cobalt was sold as a 4-door sedan and 2-door coupe, in the US it was selling only the G5 as Coupe but Mexico and Canada had a sedan version being sold.
