Datson 1200 is also known as Nissan Sunny and it was a much anticipated car at that time. At first it was presented as a 4 door sedan but later on the 5 seats model was also introduced. It featured strut front suspension with optional disc brakes and an economical 1.2-liter A12-series engine. It was first released in 1966 and the production continued until 2004 due to its popularity.
The name Sunny creates a lot of confusion as it has been based on other models of the Nissan. However, it is known as Nissan Sentra in the US market. Moreover, it was later renamed to Nissan Latio in the other parts of the world. It was offered for sale in the following body styles; 2/4-door sedan, 2-door coupé and 3-door station wagon. All of the other models got new grilles and larger tail lights, which now included reversing lights in the van/wagon model.
