Volvo Duett is a vehicle manufactured by Volvo Cars from 1953 to 1969. The car was designated to solve dual purpose undertaking the role of a delivery vehicle during the workdays and become a sedan with comfort when away from work, thus inheriting the name Duett. It was released in 3 body styles, namely an estate car or station wagon, panel van and a nobody chassis after the windshield, though in small numbers. Volvo Sedan was its fore runner for engine and suspension, but it differed in body design. The PV was designed unibody and a suspension with coil spring in the rear, but the Duet had a rear supported by leaf springs and a ladder frame body. The regressive design however was criticized, but the ladder frame actually allowed Volvo to manufacture a useful commercial vehicle. Availability of bare chassis also laid the ground for building pickup truck with the Duett base.
