At the Geneva Motor show in 2011 a pre-production Volvo V60 diesel electric hybrid was debuted. This was the result of the Swedish energy supplier company Vattenfall and Volvo cars and came at a price tag of US$64,600. It was announced by Volvo that 1,000 cars were sold out even before they were dispatched to the dealerships. The production was increased to a 5000 owing to demand for the 2014 model year. The first consignment of 1,000 hybrids was an electric silver livery and was part of Pure Limited Edition. The features in the diesel electric V60 included 17-inch wheels with aero design, integrated exhaust tail pipes and glossy black body work. This is also the world’s first plug-in hybrid with diesel engine. It has front wheel drive, six speed transmission 5-cylinder 2.4 liter D5 turbo diesel engine producing 245bhp and a torque power of maximum 440Nm. The diesel Powertrain is supported by 70hp electric motor.
