Volvo 900 is a series of executive range cars manufactured by Volvo Cars from Sweden between 1990 and 1998. The series was introduced to succeed the Volvo 700 series and it was the donor for the 900. When production came to an end for the series it was rechristened as S90 and V90 and they were the last Volvo cars with rear-wheel drive. There were visible differences between these two series and they included the rear styling in the Sedans, but the last of the 700 estates were identical look wise with the early 900s. When it was introduced in 1991 the 900 had a new series of modular engine which went on to be redesigned for model year 1995 which greatly improved its operations. In 1996 the series was supplemented by a Volvo 850. Last models of 900 were sold in1998 and ambulances and hearses were manufactured after the primary production of the 900 was stopped.
