The Volvo 440 and 460 are small family cars produced by Volvo from Sweden from 1987 to 1997. Both these models were released in 1987 and 1989 respectively in Europe and both were assembled at the DAF plant in the Netherlands. The 440 was a front wheel drive 5-door hatchback and the 460 was a saloon. These two cars borrowed many components from the Volvo 480 which was hugely successful; they included suspension, front and rear, floorpan, braking system, engine and transmission. Both cars were designed to be bigger estate and saloon of Volvo range and replaced the 340 and 360 series while they competed with vehicles as such Ford Sierra. Volvo has always been concerned with safety issues and they had accordingly developed and imparted to the 300 and 400 series which included additional airbags for driver and passengers. There were several alert systems included to ensure optimum safety to the driver and occupants.
