Conquest was first introduced by Chrysler in 1983 and it is said to be the first most sports coupe launched by Chrysler manufactured by themselves. The main purpose for releasing the Conquest was to attract the import buyers who might have taken a lot of interest in cars like Toyota Supra, Mazda RX7 and such cars. Then came the Conquest by Chrysler offering great performance and mixing classy style with an upper grade interior. Moreover, the electronics installed in the Conquest were also the latest at that time.
Different kind of engines were used in different countries like in America, a 2.6 liter single-overhead-cam engine with a turbocharger was installed in the car. Similarly, the horsepower varied from 150 to 198 with a 5 speed manual transmission and it was a huge success at that time. No major changes were there in the upcoming years and the Mitsubishi version of the Conquest was marketed as the Starion.
