renault 21

This large family car was produced by Renault for 8 years between 1986 and 1994 and in America, it was sold as Renault Medallion for a few years during which 2,096,000 units were produced. The main purpose for the release of the Renault 21 was to replace the old Renault 18 and Renault 21 Nevada completed this milestone which was a station wagon.

Initially, Renault decided to offer the R21 with disparate engine configurations as it had no gearbox suitable for a more powerful transverse engine. At the time of its release, its razor-like design was much appreciated by the fans and the critics as it was different from the other cars like Ford Sierra and Opel Ascona. A 1.4, 1.7, 2.0, 2.2 8v was installed in the R21 initially which was upgraded later. 5-speed manual and a 3 speed automatic transmission was present in the car to give enough power and handling at the same time.
