daihatsu charade

This world famous supermini car was produced in large number by Daihatsu in 1977 and its production was continued for 23 years. It was launched to replace the old Daiharsu Consorte and it is categorized by Daihatsu as a large compact car instead of a super mini just to create a difference from the smaller vehicles. Charade has different names in different parts of the world such as it is called as Xiali in China. It was sold in more than 1.5 million units in China.

First generation was started in 1977 and lasted six years and had round headlights and the late G10 (Series 2) had square headlights. The second generation of the Charade brought the three- or a five-door hatchback. In 1985, at the Tokyo show, Daihatsu introduced the 926R, a prototype of a mid-engine Charade. It generated a fair share of sales for Daihatsu and was a successful unit overall.
