Citroen DS was first produced in 1955 and it was manufactured for 20 years until 1975. The great thing about Citroen DS is that two of the most famous people in the cars industry at that time played their part to keep it stand out of the rest. Italian industrial designer Flaminio Bertoni and the French aeronautical engineer André Lefèbvre put a lot of hard work on it. That is the reason why more than 1.5 million units of the D series were sold in the 20 years of production.
It was presented in three body styles; 4 door sedan, 5 door station wagon and 2 door convertible. One issue was that it had a high price tag which definitely hurt the sales because the economies of the countries were still recovering from the World War II. It was presented in 3-speed automatic 4-speed manual, 5-speed manual and 4-speed semi-automatic transmission.
