Renault 8 and Renault 10 are the names of the same generation cars and as a matter of fact, Renault 8 was renamed to Renault 10 in 1964. They are categorized as small family cars and its production was stopped in Frnace in 1973. It is interesting to note that the design of the Renault 8 is quite similar to that of Alfa Romeo front-wheel drive prototype tipo 103 (1960). The reason behind that was Renault and Alpha Romeo had a business relation in 1950s.
At the time of its release, Renault 8 was presented for sale as a 4-door saloon and 3, 4 and 5 speed manual transmission was present in it. Later in 1963, a semi-automatic transmission was installed in it. A more powerful engine was released in 1964 which was an 1108 cc engine developing 50 PS (37 kW; 49 hp). It received a facelift in 1967 when it got two additional headlights and its engine upgraded to a 1255cc unit.
