Volkswagen Lupo was manufactured by Volkswagen, Germany and was presented as a city car between 1998 and 2005. The car was introduced to fill the gap created by Polo which was bigger in size and weight. Lupo was a badge engineered version when it was introduced in 1998 and the donor was SEAT Arosa the 1997 stable mate. Both the vehicles used the same A00 platform. Lupo was sold in two trims; the upgraded S trim and the budget E trim. The models were further expended by the addition of a Sport and GTI variant. Lupos were offered with 1.0 to 1.4 L petrol engines and 1.2 to 1.7 L Diesel engines, for the GTI it was 1.6 L. The E and S trims differed in several features that included door handles, central locking, painted door mirrors, electric windows, opening rear windows and double folding seats. Manufacturing was continued till 2005 after which the Fox took over.
